Great news! The government has officially acknowledged the vital importance of singing in schools (something which many of us have never doubted!)
A new £10million package of measures to boost music and singing for young people was announced on January 16th 2007 by Education Secretary Alan Johnson, providing the Government response to the Music Manifesto Report, ‘Making Every Child's Music Matter’. Speaking at the State of Play festival in Camden, Mr. Johnson said:

"As well as being a worthwhile activity for its own sake, music is a powerful learning tool which can build children's confidence, teamwork and language skills. A better musical education for pupils can also help them hit the right note in their studies."

Singing and Signing for Fun – Raise Deaf Awareness with this excellent introduction to British Sign Language. Participants will learn to sing and sign fantastic, original Songs of Kaos. (Especially suitable for mixed ability/ESL groups).

Sing A Song Of Kaos – catchy, witty, totally child-centred songs, many co-written with children and young people in The Kaos Organisation’s ‘Words And Tunes’ songwriting workshops. Song titles include ‘Rock Boots’, ‘Bad Day Blues’ and ‘Veggie Aliens With Attitude’.

Words and Tunes Songwriting Workshops – anyone can write a song about anything (issue-based songs and school songs a speciality!)
