fundraising

As a charity, we’re always looking for ways

to raise funds for the work we do. Our young workshop members participate in Sponsored Sign-and-Singalongathons, and we regularly stage benefit gigs featuring our adult choir,

The Angels Of Kaos (North London’s most fabulous casual singers).

we’re under ‘T’ for The Kaos Organisation)

Celebrities are always being asked to donate items for charity auctions but we wanted to do something a little different, so we came up with the idea of asking them to create an original artwork on the theme of angels. We’re constantly impressed by the generosity of well-known stars of stage, sound and screen who contribute hand-crafted artworks, which we then auction online and at live events.

Our first Celebrity Angel Artwork appeal was back in 2000. The response was out of this world – including hand-written lyrics from Annie Lennox and Suzanne Vega and a beautiful watercolour by Alison Moyet.

We were totally blown away by the response to our 2008 appeal -

Sir Ian McKellen opted for a self-portrait of a wizard angel, Joanna Lumley produced a beautiful picture of a small angel reading by candlelight, Roger McGough illustrated the first verse of one of his poems, Angels Are God’s Marines, director Mike Leigh drew a bearded naked man in flight (possibly a self-portrait?) captioned ‘up in the sky’ and Archbishop Desmond Tutu sent in his version of an angel which arrived along with a letter in which he said: "I think I probably pray better than I draw but I have made an attempt which I enclose. I hope it will be helpful to the choir in their fundraising efforts.

God bless you."

Our most recent live auction event - A Heavenly Nite of Angel Delite – took place at Alexandra Palace in October 2008 and featured artworks by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Sir Ian McKellen, Joanna Lumley, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Emma Thompson, Mike Leigh, Graeme Garden, Sandi Toksvig, Jeremy Hardy, Jo Brand and Geri Halliwell.

We've made some of them into greetings cards - click here for more details or to order online
